Swiss start-ups develop products and services that make life easier for users, attracting customers, investors and award juries.

Dear reader

Properti wants to simplify the process of finding, managing and marketing real estate through the right mix of digitalisation, human advice and a comprehensive ecosystem with partners. The company, which was founded in 2019, has more than 100 employees and has now completed a second seed round worth CHF 6 million.

Cleantech company Enerdrape, which was awarded the top prize of CHF 150,000 at the >>venture>> award ceremony on Tuesday, has little to do with Properti at first glance. But again simplicity was the key reason for the jury’s choice of Enerdrape as the winner. The start-up’s panels, which turn underground infrastructure into a renewable energy source to heat buildings, are not only easy to install, but unlike other environmentally friendly energy sources, do not require a complicated approval process.

Another example is Typewise, which simplifies typing on a smartphone with its keyboard app. The start-up has now been selected as the only Swiss company for US accelerator Y Combinator’s summer batch.

DeepJudge simplifies the lives of lawyers with its AI-based context-aware legal document processing platform. Now the team led by CEO Paulina Grnarova has received the Swiss Fintech Award in the Early Stage category. Stableton was named Growth Stage Start-up of the Year and federal councillor Ueli Maurer also received an award as Fintech Influencer of the Year at the event.

Life becomes easier for start-ups when they have the support of established politicians, investors and partners. Flux Mobility has secured well-known backing: Peter Spuhler’s PCS Holding has invested in the e-transporter provider. Lucerne-based Cowa Thermal Solutions is another cleantech company that has closed a financing round: the start-up’s sales partner is the renowned building technology company Meier Tobler.

In addition to financing rounds, this week we also reported on the successful fundraising of an investor. Verve Ventures has closed the first capital call of its first venture capital fund, with more than CHF 45 million committed capital from private investors, family offices and institutional investors. The fund will accelerate the development of Verve Ventures’ most successful start-ups  –the current macroeconomic uncertainty does not seem to have had any impact on the number of start-ups, with a virtually stable number as a new IFJ report shows.

Next week, Ritah Nyakato will be at the Female Innovation Forum; I would also like to point out the Startfeld Investor Forum on Monday and the F10 Demo Day on Thursday.

The deadlines expire for both the Switzerland Innovation Tech4Impact Initiative and the Swiss Startcup Challenge in the coming week, and for Venture Leaders Cleantech and the Boldbrain Challenge the following week. Applications are open for Venture Kick at any time; this week, biotech start-up NextImmune received CHF 150,000 as part of the competition.

Have a good weekend
