Shortcut Media, co-founded by former kooaba CEO Herbert Bay, emerged from stealth and announced the availability of its solution that uses proprietary Artificial-Intelligence algorithms and behavioral data to help mobile app developers and marketers identify potential customers, drive engagement, user retention and virality, organically and through paid marketing.

The Shortcut platform takes a complete-picture approach to app marketing to help app developers and marketers turn their apps into growth machines with high user retention and organic growth. The Shortcut platform is predicated on the three growth engines as defined by Eric Ries in his book “The Lean Startup.” These growth engines include:

1. Stickiness: Shortcut enables deep links, app banners, individually customized newsletters, or iBeacons to increase app engagement and thereby also increase retention.
2. Virality: Shortcut delivers referrals and mobile SDKs that make sharing app content easier for app users to tell their friends about the app. This enables organic and viral growth.
3. Paid: In order to get first-time users and to improve customer retention and organic growth, or to scale app users, Shortcut offers paid app marketing capabilities. This includes marketing short links, as well as customized ad landing pages.

Shortcut’s platform provides full-featured app attribution to measure and track success. What will set Shortcut apart is the fact that Shortcut will analyze user data using Artificial Intelligence (AI) to enable such features as automated push notifications to increase retention; better user targeting for paid marketing; user profiling and benchmarking once Shortcut has further built its knowledge base.

Already a number of customers
Shortcut has been operating in stealth for the past year, and it already has a number of customers including Vivino, ZenFriend, Cardu and Spent app, among others. To date, Shortcut has delivered an increase in signups of more than double the industry average; an increase in engagement of 2x; and 2x increase in retention for its launch partners.

"Using the Shortcut platform, we have seen an increase in mobile app downloads and active users, plus we are able to better measure results. We are excited for to continue the momentum in 2016 as our partnership with Shortcut evolves,” said Heini Zachariassen, CEO, Vivino.

Spin-off from kooaba
Shortcut Media was founded as a spin-off from kooaba in 2012 as a spin-off from kooaba. Whereas kooaba was sold to Qualcomm in 2014, Shortcut stayed independent. The new Shortcut platform was developed from the beginning of 2015 on.

"We are moving into a new and exciting era for mobile app marketing, where data-driven and AI-powered solutions will replace the traditional app marketing workflow that businesses have typically relied on," said Herbert Bay, Co-Founder and CEO, Shortcut Media. "Today, app developers and marketers need to invest in solutions that make intelligent data central to driving their business forward. We aren't simply giving our customers a tool for incremental results; we are measurably growing their businesses with insights that will drive growth and, ultimately, their bottom line."

"We are poised to become the leader of a new breed of marketing technology company - one that combines Artificial Intelligence and data science expertise with deep understanding of business and app marketing challenges," concluded Bay. "App developers and marketers who allow intelligent data to influence their strategic direction will come out ahead of the competition. Shortcut enables this competitive advantage."
