Lambda Health System (LHS) has just delivered its first rehabilitation robot in Germany to the Klinik Bavaria Rehabilitationsklinik Bad Kissingen. With its CE marking, the startup co-founded by Aurélien Fauquex and Yannick Charrotton is set to expand its commercial activities in Europe to meet growing demand. To date, a total of 8 robots have been sold in Germany, France, Italy and the United Arab Emirates.

After obtaining CE marking in 2019 for its medical robot for neuro-rehabilitation, Lambda began marketing it in Switzerland. As CEO and cofounder Aurélien Fauquex explains to Startupticker.ch, COVID has been a major obstacle to conferences and demonstrations, but despite this Lambda has managed to make a name for itself in Germany, France, Italy and the United Arab Emirates.

Lambda recently made its first sale at the Klinik Bavaria Bad Kissingen in Germany. This is the largest medtech market, with several major private hospital chains, but the competition is very strong says the CEO and cofounder, adding: “The Lambda robot stands out and convinces by the therapeutic intensity it can achieve. After just a few weeks in use, the rehabilitation center in Germany was already achieving 35 additional therapies per week without having to increase its human resources. So the Lambda robot benefits both patients and the centres that buy it.”

The first sales in a country are always an important step. Each new customer can become a reference center or an ambassador for the product, or even a partner for a clinical research project. All these points are boosters for the acquisition of new customers in the market concerned. With the return of in-person medical conferences and the first sales in each country, Lambda can now accelerate sales in Europe and plan its entry into new markets.

For logistical reasons relating to setting up demonstrations in clinics, Lambda Health System has so far limited itself to countries bordering Switzerland. The CE mark now allows the Yverdon based start-up to sell all over Europe. “In the last 6 months, we have taken part in several international conferences, which have enabled us to confirm the interest of centres in Spain, France and Belgium.” says Aurelien Fauquex.

To date, 8 robots have been installed in clinics in Europe and the Gulf region. The most gratifying figure for the founders is the 4,800 training sessions carried out by patients with the Lambda robot.

Gearing up to boost sales

To accelerate sales and strengthen its distribution network in accessible markets, Lambda needs to offer more dynamic sales models and also provide more demonstration devices to interested customers explains the CEO. To support these stages of growth and at the same time prepare for FDA approval, his startup will launch a new round of financing. All the activities are carried out by a solid team of 6 people. Most of them have been with the startup since the start of the project. “We're so grateful to have employees who are motivated and convinced by Lambda's mission. It's clear that to take Lambda to the next level, the team needs to grow.” adds Aurélien Fauquex.
