Younergy, a leading Swiss solar energy startup, announced today that it has raised CHF 7.7 million in an oversubscribed bond emission. The funds will allow to diversify the company's funding sources and will primarily be used to fund more solar projects and support Younergy's expansion into other European markets.
Younergy, s startup co-founded in 2015 by CEO Pedro Miranda, offers solar as a service through on-site power purchase agreements (PPAs) in four key geographies: Switzerland, Portugal, Spain, and Germany. With thousands of built references across Europe, the company has developed a unique marketplace model to serve the market, centralizing origination through a network of partners and fully managing and automating operations with its expertise and technology.
"We are thrilled to have raised this capital, which will help us continue to grow and provide sustainable energy solutions to our customers," said Pedro Miranda. "Our innovative model addresses the challenges of market fragmentation, technical complexity, and financing, and we are excited to use these funds to expand our portfolio and continue making solar energy accessible to more people."
This is the first time that Younergy has raised capital directly from its community, and the company plans to continue on this path. "There is a lot of appetite among individuals to fund the energy transition, and we are excited to be able to offer this opportunity to our community," said CEO Pedro Miranda. "In a way, it closes the circle: we're using decentralized finance to fund decentralized energy."
With this latest funding round, Younergy plans to continue expanding its solar assets and providing cost-effective, sustainable energy to customers in the markets it serves. The company is committed to driving the transition to renewable energy and reducing the reliance on fossil fuels.
