In September last year, the Republic of Seychelles deployed the Visitor Management Platform by Swiss startup Travizory to keep its borders open. The platform is helping to keep the country almost COVID-19 free.

Travizory’s Health Travel Authorization module, part of its wider Visitor Management Platform (VMP) provides local authorities with a platform to approve travellers to enter the country safely and confidently while reducing the risk of translocation of COVID-19. The Republic of Seychelles was the first country to deploy the module in September for health travel authorization and airport-arrival health screening systems.

The Travizory technology allows Seychelles health authorities to directly collect identity and health information from the traveller via easy-to-use web and mobile apps. The data is fed securely into a single system, providing information about all travellers wishing to travel to Seychelles. The system gives authorities the capability to run rapid and efficient vetting procedures to minimize COVID-19 risks and other security risks.

Speaking on how Travizory’s VMP is helping Seychelles, Antony Derjacques, Minister of Transport, said: “The Seychelles Islands travel authorization system, combined with our API platform, has demonstrated its ability to screen travellers before they land, as well as tracking people when they are here. There is no question it is helping to keep the country almost COVID-19 free.”

Environmental donations through Travizory
Besides border control, Travizory’s platform also provides travellers with an opportunity to donate to the Seychelles Environmental Fund. Established in 1994, The Funds aims to reduce pollution, protect the environment, enhance Seychelles, and promote environmental education. It finances projects from organizations that deliver a positive impact on the archipelago and its residents. Through Travizoy, more than 3200 visitors from 130 countries including the United Kingdom, Switzerland, Germany and the United Arab Emirates donated over SCR 1,229,540 million (€47,290) to the fund.
