Six finalists will be selected for the Swiss Startups Awards: Three startups from the German speaking part of Switzerland, two from western Switzerland and one from Ticino. The finalist from Ticino is The Chrono Registry.

This year, the Swiss Startups.ch Award are being organised for the fourth time. The winner will receive CHF 50’000. Startups and young entrepreneurs from all over Switzerland take part in the competition. In a first step six finalists will be selected. There is only one finalist from Ticino and in this sense this company is the winner of a regional contest. The company that have been selected from Ticino is The Chrono Registry.

The Chrono Registry is creating a registry of authentic luxury watches. The solution is geared to fighting against fakes and helping recuperate lost or stolen watches. The startup implements a secure web-based service which, in conjunction with an application on a smartphone, allows watch owners and watch enthusiasts access to a series of services which were not previously available in a similar fashion. The services allow users to load images of their valued watches as well as the purchase receipt and warranty, thus becoming paperless.

In addition, from the mobile app, a user can declare his watch stolen and thus put it on the secure global lost/stolen database of The Chrono Registry where the serial number can now be found by anyone on the planet checking the database. Only the serial number is available and no personal information is made public. A sophisticated secure mechanism makes it possible for someone finding a watch to contact the person that registered it without knowing the person's identity. Other value added services will be implemented regularly such that Premium subscribers will always have useful features at their fingertips.

The winner of the Swiss Startups Awards will be announced on 30 October.
