Since SwissDeCode received the Innosuisse Certificate a year ago, the Renens-based scale-up has been very active, developing new tests and validating its novel BEAMitup platform with industrial partners. It has also been satisfying a growing demand as the latest Q1 2022 sales show.

Based in Renens, SwissDeCode offers a variety of rapid, on-site testing solutions that help companies in different parts of the food supply chain to detect food contamination and adulteration earlier, avoid food recalls and improve the trust of consumers in their products. One year ago, the Vaud scale-up was awarded the Innosuisse Certificate and made its focus on growth clear.

SwissDeCode offers two types of rapid testing. Starting with the self-administered, validated by the Swiss Authory DNAFoil, the company introduced the B3 semi-automated platform with 50% less manual steps to reduce handling errors and results embedded in data packages with geo-location ready for cloud storage. Today the company eyes the introduction of its latest fully-automated, decentralized BEAMitup platform delivering ISO certified results in minutes.

Supported by companies such as Mars Wrigley, SwissDeCode is on the growth path. The company has already developed over 30 test reactions for global customers to authenticate food, but also for nutrition and hygiene purposes or pathogen identification. Thanks to SwissDeCode, consumers around the world are learning about the benefits of a A2 milk, and looking for brands who supply it.  The market expected to grow from USD8 billion in 2020 to USD21 billion in 2026 is driving demand for the scale-up A2 Solution. The company’s Q1 2022 sales have already exceeded 2021 sales in revenue.

Today SwissDeCode is preparing the future. As Cofounder and CEO Brij Sahi tells to Startupticker.ch, the company is looking to raise additional funds for product development and customer engagement after a successful pilot of its BEAMitup solution to identify GMO Corn, a huge challenge for 70% of European countries who have partially or fully banned genetically modified grains.
