Finfin AG, a Swiss fashion toy producer, has raised CHF 2 million in its Series A financing round with family offices and industry veterans from Europe. Following its success in Europe, Finfin is expanding into the United States with two large retailers as its first customers, the Middle East and Asia.

Launched in 2017, Finfin AG created the brand I’M A GIRLY with the mission to empower the creative youth. Their fashion dolls and styling heads encourage children to play creatively and help them to find their very own style. According to the startup team, they launched the brand to empower the creative youth by engaging with kids and consumers around the globe to co-design their toys and to identify the latest fashion trends. Subsequently, the company produces only products that customers want, as elaborated by Theresia Le Battistini, founder and CEO of Finfin.

After only three years, the startup offers a wide range of products through its online shop as well as high-end department stores and mass-market retailers in the DACH region, the UK and France. In 2020/21, the company will expand its footprints to North America, the Middle East, and Asia. Some of the largest retail stores in those countries will support the brand’s success.

Finfin has recently completed its Series A round raising CHF 2 million from a consortium of existing investors, family offices, and industry veterans to support the planned international expansion. Furthermore, the funds will also allow for product expansion. This year, the company will launch its third product line – contemporary products comprising dolls with interchangeable wigs or colour-changing hair – to meet the demand across different age groups and different price ranges.

“The fact that, even in times like these, requests from retailers and distributors around the globe continue unabated, demonstrates that it was about time to embrace the creativity of Gen Z to create contemporary toys,” said Le Battistini.
