SWISSto12 has been awarded a major contract for the design and manufacture of a full EW/SIGINT/ELINT array system based on its 3D printing technology. This follow-up order coming from a leading defense contractor enables the Vaud Scale-up to extend its footprint in the design and manufacturing of 3D printed communication and sensing equipment for the defense industry.

Swiss Scale-up SWISSto12 has developed a comprehensive RF solution for the defense industry exploiting the design freedom offered by additive manufacturing (3D printing) technology. The end-to-end solution includes the antenna RF subsystem, including mechanical frames, radomes and full environment qualification to MIL-STD-810 maritime and airborne standards. The improvements brought by the technology sets new standards in accuracy, repeatability and RF performance which are the key parameters when designing EW/SIGINT/ELINT systems.

SWISSto12 getting entrusted with this program by a leading Israeli defense contractor is a strong message of trust and evidence of the benefits that 3D printing technology brings to this sector. In fact, the company is seeing a growing demand from the defense industry for cutting edge solutions that support the fast evolution of the EW and C4I systems. Contacted by Startupticker.ch, Hadar Naor, SWISSto12 Business Development Manager explains that the defense division has been growing at a very fast pace and is expected to continue doing so in the future. Most of new products are for the EW/SIGINT/ELINT systems for land marine and airborne applications with the frequency range of 1-40GHz.

In order to maximize the 3D printing technology advantages, SWISSto12 RF and mechanical engineering team in Renens Headquarters are in charge of the end to end solution: RF design, mechanical design, Radome production and full set of qualification tests. Speaking of production, Hadar Naor adds that, as of today, the company has supplied more than 100 airborne EW arrays and full ELINT offshore systems and is holding an order for 20 potable ELINT system for another customer which is on the final design stage before release for production.

In the near future, the Vaud Scale-up will offer a MM wave marina array, Hybrid Antennas and filters - all printed as one monolithic unit, a SIGINT airborne POD based on a unique multi horns 3D printed phase array and a 1-18GHz Printed Spiral antenna. SWISSto12 believes that the experience gained during the past few years will help to expand its defense portfolio and global footprint.
