Start-ups for Swiss Venture Day and Seed Night selected

Next week a whole day will be devoted to start-ups at EPFL. The programme on the 22 May starts with an Angel Day followed by the 2nd Swiss Venture Day Romandie and the EPFL Seed Night. Several hundred visitors are expected to join start-ups, investors and scientists.

The Angel Day workshop in the morning (9.00 to 12.30) will focus on the topic on mentoring start-ups. This workshop will use case studies and experience sharing  to look into the operational, motivational and ethical  issues that business angels face when they mentor technology entrepreneurs. It will provide best practices for  mentoring or coaching   founders  and co- investors.

In the afternoon a Swiss Venture Day will follow. Companies with a regular pitch:

Flyability is developing Gimball, a game-changing flying robot, which can be flown indoors and in complex environments: it can stay stable after collisions with obstacles and can thus go where other robots can't. Furthermore, it is safe to fly close to humans.

Attrackting aims to make people’s lives easier and more secure using intelligent and interactive everyday devices. Attrackting solutions are worn on people, pets, or objects, and enable  interaction, continuous tracking, searching, locating and alarming.

Powzy is a gamified mobile marketing platform for consumer brands. The platform is a first of its kind mobile marketing channel for acquiring consumers through mobile apps and games, and the start-up offers an ad network to B2C companies to advertise and acquire consumers through mobile devices.

Lunaphore has developed an innovative tumor analysis and classification platform with the potential to be a disruptive alternative to classical immunohistochemistry. The company won the PERL Prize 2014 recently.

PB&B is developing four types of injections of biodegradable microspheres to render Aesthetics procedures non-surgical; their effect mimics normal physiological processes as to achieve: (i) Temporary Breast Enhancement (ii) Permanent Breast Enhancement (iii) Buttock enhancement (iv) Facial rejuvenation.

Lockstyler: With current application methods, hair lock dying cannot be performed by unqualified persons. With the introduction of its patented solution, based on ready to use dye cartridges, LockStyler will transform the hair lock dying process by providing hairdressers and home users a unique, eco-friendly and organic dying system which is much simpler, cleaner and quicker than anything existing.

Scantrust’s mission is to combat counterfeiting. The startup sells to brand owners a Software as a Service (SaaS) solution which empowers consumers to verify the authenticity of a product, by scanning it with their smartphone.

Bright Sensors manufactures a new type of sensor that can measure the quality of natural gas. The sensor is compact and low cost, allowing it to be integrated directly into gas powered appliances and vehicles.

G-Therapeutics aims of translating for human use new treatment paradigms that restored voluntary locomotion in fully paralyzed animals with a success rate of 100%.

Plair provides solutions for real-time air quality and pollution monitoring. Plair propose aerosol detectors and air analysis services to Meteo and Research Institutions, Air Quality State Departments, Industrial Bio- and Pharma facilities.
