Well-known partners around the globe rely on Swiss start-ups – proof of the maturity of these young companies.

Dear reader

The Hope Consortium includes partners from Abu Dhabi, including Etihad Cargo, and Swiss start-up Skycell. The goal is to build a global supply chain to ensure the logistics for the supply of Covid-19 vaccine. Skycell’s temperature-controlled logistics containers will play a central role here.

The partnership between Lonza and blockchain start-up Authena is also about a supply chain: it wants to improve product traceability and authenticity of crops. And the Bossard Group has a 40% stake in a start-up that has developed innovative connection solutions for lightweight construction materials.

These well-known partners show the increasing maturity of Swiss start-ups and their ability to meet the requirements of global corporations. At the same time, the maturity of advanced start-ups also enables them to help companies that have just started to conquer the market. One example is the partnership between Digital Chameleon and the already very successful start-up Skribble.

Investiere also relies on a partnership for further growth: the platform has teamed up with the Belgian business angel network BeAngels. The investiere team is currently building up further partnerships with similar organisations in other European countries. The aim is to increase the capital available for Swiss and European start-ups, and equally to make cross-border investment easier for investors. Tomahawk.vc is also focusing on international expansion: in addition to a new partner, two venture partners have been recruited in Lisbon and Shanghai.

Business Parc Reinach is not planning global, but local growth: CHF 20 million will be invested in a second building with more than 6,000 m2 of office space, conference rooms and meeting areas for young entrepreneurs.

The Business Parc is home mainly to young service companies, but Venture Kick focuses on ambitious deep-tech start-up teams. In the last few days, three companies have secured CHF 150,000 each: two medtech startups – Flowbone and Regenosca – and Bionomous, which brings automation to the laboratory.

Ten projects made it into the final of the Swisscom Startup Challenge, which this year focuses on 5G. In total, 125 teams from 30 countries applied and the public vote is now open for the favourite project among the 10 finalists.

Several interesting events take place next week, with Fintech Investor Day on Monday and the SIX Fintech Ventures Portfolio Day and Energy Startup Day following on Tuesday. On Thursday, three events take place: the St Gallen start-up day, Swiss Accelerators’ Showcase, for which various support organisations in western Switzerland have joined forces and which promises a new kind of virtual experience, and the final of the Ticino Boldbrain Challenge. Find out who the finalists are in our article.

Have a comfortable weekend
