OVOMIND is on a roll. The Geneva startup with offices in Tokyo has successfully completed a second funding round raising total investments to USD 1.6 million. The funds will allow the company to boost R&D and push a product to market. OVOMIND aims to integrate emotion in human-machine interaction and revolutionize gaming.

OVOMIND has successfully completed a funding round that brings the total of funds raised to USD 1.6 million with SICTIC and FONGIT investors mainly. The additional funding will enable the startup to move from the MVP stage to Beta and reach KPIs explains co-founder and CEO Yann Frachi to Startupticker.ch

Based in Geneva, OVOMIND brings emotion to gaming, much in the way the Nintendo Wii U brought Motion 20 years ago, says the CEO. Emotions have a much higher potential to change interactivity with video games. The startup’s technology computes bio signals from wearable devices (smart bands and smartwatches) and delivers real-time emotional data for interaction. With this tech, OVOMIND wants to integrate emotion in human-machine interaction and revolutionize gaming. To achieve this, OVOMIND’s team of Machine Learning and artificial intelligence experts has developed an end-to-end cloud based solution that classifies in real time emotional states reading bio signals from smartwatches and smart bands.

OVOMIND has already identified technical partners and is now preparing the Beta software suite. The Beta will allow a selection of Streamers to use the service for free. On the other end, their partner studios will be able to use the startup’s Software Development Kit and documents for technology integration (Unity, Unreal Engine and C++). The studio’s offer will include a lifetime license and dedicated support as well a possibility of revenue sharing.

As it was the case for Virtual Reality and Oculus, the team led by Yann Frachi will provide its first Dev kits in 2023 (DK1) and the studios will integrate emotional interactions in their game (eg. the player feels stressed and the enemy can adapt his behavior and for example start to chase the player). The studios are free to implement whatever they want in their games to innovate and make the experience more memorable with emotions.
