GreenTEG wins Climate-KIC Venture Competition

Greenteg, the developer of a new generation of thermoelectric generators, wins the European Climate-KIC Venture Competition and receives a grant of € 40,000.

The flexible films of greenTEG convert heat directly into electricity. The can be manufactured much less expensively than today’s thermo-electric generators and can be put to use in a wide area of applications. The team is remarkable too. he greenTEG team consists of specialists in engineering, chemistry and physics. Based on achievements of several PhD theses at the Micro- and Nanosystems Group at ETH Zurich, greenTEG is determined to become market and technology leader in thermoelectrics by 2015.

Today greenTEG has won the Climate-KIC Venture Competition. The competition started at the local Climate-KIC location, Switzerland. In the national preliminary rounds each Climate-KIC location chose 2 start-ups that took part in the international Venture Competition on 1 and 2 October. During the final Venture Competition twelve start-up companies from Europe pitched their business model to a jury of experienced entrepreneurs, financiers and business people.

As the winner of the competition greenTEG receives a grant of € 40,000 and in addition:

  • Free access to the Climate-KIC Masterclass on Business Modelling in Berlin (November 2012).
  • Entrance to the EIT Entrepreneurship Competition
  • A high level coach and access to the full Climate-KIC network to support greenTEG in its quest for funding.

GreenTEG was founded in 2009 and awarded with the CTI Start-up Label in 2010.
