Multiwave Technologies is starting a new 1.1 million euro partnership with Aix-Marseille University on portable MRI, with a focus on cerebral and musculoskeletal applications. The partnership includes joint research and funding for 5 portable MRI units to be deployed in medical and sports laboratories on Aix-Marseille University sites for research purposes.

Multiwave Technologies is on a roll. Just a few days after announcing a strategic partnership in Geneva and the sale of its portable MRI device for brain imaging, the Geneva-based medtech company has entered a partnership with the University of Aix-Marseille. The partnership includes joint research and the financing of five portable MRI machines to be deployed in medical and sports laboratories at the University of Aix-Marseille for research purposes.

The 4-year research program (2024-2027) will be led by the Institut Fresnel (a joint laboratory of Aix-Marseille University and the Centre national de la recherche scientifique-CNRS) with support from the “Centre d'imagerie par résonance magnétique pour la biologie et la médecine” and will focus on cerebral and musculoskeletal applications.

"This partnership combines expertise in metamaterials, AI, MRI methodology and clinical protocols to push the boundaries of ultra-low field MRI," says Panos Antonakakis, co-founder and co-CEO of the company,

Multiwave Technologies is developing disruptive medical imaging technologies as a deep tech company. The startup’s current flagship product is their ultra-portable MRI device that aims to evolve how diagnostics are administered.
