Back by popular demand Swiss Mobicamp is returning to Bern on 1st November. Once again Martin Coul is on the hunt for Swiss start-ups who want to enter the Dragon’s Den! The prize fund on offer to the winner will be in the region of CHF10,000.

Dragon’s Den is a concept that originated in Japan as a series of reality television programmes featuring entrepreneurs pitching their business ideas to secure investment finance from a panel of high net worth individuals.

This time Martin Coul, the organizer of Mobicamp, is looking to find just 5 x start-ups who have 2 years or less of legal existence prior to Swiss Mobicamp on 01.11.12.

To level the playing field and offer each company an equal chance of success the 5 selected start-ups will each be offered two unique opportunities. Firstly they will be given Investor Pitch training by Jean Pierre Vuilleumier and the pitch consultant, Andrea Cockerton from the UK who trained the entrepreneurs behind the most successful Dragon’s Den pitch ever seen on the BBC.

Secondly, thanks to a partnership with the team at Echtpraktisch all the start-up presentations will be illustrated by hand. The intent here is to ensure the 5 x start-ups pitch to the best of their abilities – and it is their conviction, passion and evangelism for their company which stands out – rather than how talented they are at building Powerpoint slides!

The prize fund on offer to the winner of this event will now be in the region of CHF10,000 and includes the following:

  • 2 x tickets to Mobile World Congress in Barcelona worth €1400
  • A lifetime subscription to Fluid UI, a mobile app prototyping tool for iOS & Android Apps worth CHF1290 per year
  • A selection of some of the latest smartphones on the market.

An independent panel from the UK who have little knowledge of the Swiss start-up scene will once again determine who the chosen start-ups are so companies are chosen on the merit and strength of their application alone.

Finally for the 5 x start-ups chosen to enter The Dragon’s Den then their Mobicamp ticket price (except for CHF99) will be refunded – thanks to the generosity of Swisscom.

The deadline for completed submissions is midnight (CET) on 23rd September and those companies chosen to participate will be announced in mid October.

Details of the application process can be found in the Mobicamp website.
