Meteoblue, a start-up based in Basel, delivers local weather information of high quality worldwide for any point on land or sea in the world. The company launched a free Android app.

Meteoblue uses cutting edge science and technology to generate, display and distribute weather forecasts. The models that the start-up is using were initially developed at the University of Basel, Switzerland. The company was founded in 2006, to ensure reliable operational forecasts and to better service the industry, and an independent commercial computing infrastructure and product development was established. In 2007 Meteoblue won the prestigious de Vigier Award.

The weather forecasts became quickly popular with scientists and the public with a specific interest in meteorology, including mountaineers, (hobby) pilots, and astronomers. Today Meteoblue delivers local weather information of high quality worldwide for any point on land or sea in the world.

Recently, the Meteoblue has launched a free App for Android. It supplies precise 6 day weather forecast for any location, and each coordinate on Earth thanks to cutting-edge, full-coverage forecast models including unique features such as the rainspot, a graphical representation of precipitation developing within 15-60 km.
