International recognition for Matis CEO Marie Eve Didier

Matis CEO Marie Eve Didier just won the #FemaleFounderAward at Expand North Star in Dubai. Rising CSEM start-up and VentureKick 2021 winner MATIS provides an optical imaging solution for art professionals using machine learning to reveal the essence of artworks, extracting the chemical and digital fingerprint of paintings and producing a quantifiable expertise with end-to-end encryption and secure unique database. 

Contacted by Startupticker.ch, Matis CEO Marie Eve Didier explains that winning the Female Founders Award at the Supernova Pitch Competition in Dubai at the Expand North Star event is an immense honor. It shows not only the her venture’s competitiveness but also  recognizes MATIS solution, which combines high technology and chemometric analysis from artworks, fostering trust and knowledge in the art ecosystem and market.

Speaking of the prize Marie Eve Didier adds: “Winning this Award holds a special place in my heart, as it symbolizes the culmination of my lifelong passion. Being an entrepreneur is not just a profession for me; it's in my very essence and attitude. I've poured my energy and passion into building MATIS, and as our team continues to grow, our vision has expanded into something even greater. After spinning off from CSEM in March 2023, MATIS has come a long way, reckons Marie Eve Didier. And the progress has not gone unnoticed. The CEO explains: “We are proud to share that prominent museum institutions, leading art investment platforms, as well as experts in fraud and security management within the realm of cultural heritage and assets in the Middle East have recognized the immense potential and promising vision that MATIS brings to the table.” In another significant move, the company launched its fundraising round at the event.

Strong Swiss presence in Dubai

The #SupernovaChallenge is the biggest pitch competition in the Middle East, Africa and South Asia, taking place as part of Expand North Star, a fast-growing focused tech show bringing together over 1’500 start-ups and 1’000 investors. This year Lara Gervaise, Co-Founder of Virtuosis was also selected for the Female Founder Award category, and Hervé Blanc, CEO of Sharekey was selected for the Blockchain & Web3.0 Disruptor category.

Swiss spin-offs, start-ups, and scale-ups were also on show in Dubai at the #swisstech pavilion inside the large tech show, GITEX Global. The pavilion was opened on Monday by Swiss Ambassador to the UAE, Arthur Mattli, and Swiss Consul General in Dubai, Angela Schempp, who met with founders including ZHAW spin-off Ibexus, ETH robotics spin-offs Swiss Mile and UpCircle, and a showcase of IoT solutions powered by Tesenso: Clean Air Enterprise and truvami.
