The IPVF (Institut Photovoltaïque d’Ile-de-France) aims to become one of the world’s research centers for the photovoltaic energy branch. The institute has ordered an OCTOPUS II PECVD deposition system.

INDEOtec’s deposition platform is intended for research purposes at next-generation, high-yield PV cell devices. With this order INDEOtec will install the fourth system of its kind in the field. The commissioning is scheduled for the second quarter of 2016. The OCTOPUS equipment platform has been tested thoroughly at renowned research bodies in the recent years and gained a high reputation for high-efficiency PV cell research topics.

“We highly appreciate the confidence of IPVF in our competence in the field of PECVD deposition technology and we are convinced that our system will enable the team to gain substantially higher expertise in their specific research field” stated Dr. Omid Shojaei, CEO of INDEOtec.

IPVF is an industrial-academic partnership. It organizes partners’ research activities in the field of photovoltaic solar energy and aims at developing its partners’ network on a local, national and international level. IPVF aims to become one of the world’s research centers for the photovoltaic energy branch. It is supported by the French Government as an investment for the future (“Investissements d’Avenir”). As a French Institute for Energy Transition (Institut pour la Transition Énergétique – ITE), it is the recipient of a € 18.5 million grant for the next six years.

INDEOtec SA is a highly innovative thin film deposition equipment manufacturer, which is located in Neuchâtel (Switzerland). With its OCTOPUS platform the company offers a modular and fully automated cluster deposition system for the deposition of various singular or multiple stacks of thin films by means of PECVD or PVD. The OCTOPUS system significantly reduces the substrate handling and avoids vacuum breakage between top and bottom side deposition cycles.
