The Commission for Technology and Innovation CTI promotes knowledge-based innovation in Swiss companies. In its recently published 2011 annual report, the CTI presents not only its achievements, but also explains how the funding and support works: the terms and conditions, who the experts and coaches are, and the people responsible for the individual service areas.

Since early 2011, the Commission for Technology and Innovation CTI has been an independent commission agency. For its first fiscal year in the new form, CTI President Walter Steinlin takes a positive stance in the just published report, especially as the CTI was in particular demand in 2011. Thanks to the immediate measures against the strong franc, the CTI was able to invest CHF225 million, nearly twice as much as in the previous year, in the promotion of innovation.

Part of this was invested in supporting young entrepreneurs – and this has been worth it. Since the CTI started this service 16 years ago, it has certified a total of 269 start-ups with the CTI label. These companies have created 3,700 jobs.

The annual report not only describes the CTI’s achievements and performance in 2011, but in the interests of transparency also provides a presentation of all its service areas. It explains in detail how the promotion works, to whom the funds go, and the terms and conditions. It also includes the names of the experts and coaches, and the individuals who lead the individual service areas.

The annual report can be downloaded online from the CTI website in German, French, English and Italian.
