Accelerating Swiss deeptech technologies

Incaptek, the startup developing advanced drug delivery systems, is one of the nine startups selected for the Plug and Play program in Japan, an innovation platform that serves as a bridge between Japan and our global innovation ecosystem. The startup designs smart micro(nano)encapsulating solutions and develops a platform of highly innovative materials for controlled and targeted drug delivery for biotech and medtech industries. This ensures delivering drugs at the right place, in the right dosage, and at the right time, bringing treatment outcomes to the next level. With its participation in the Plug and Play innovation platform, the startup hopes to build partnerships with Japanese corporations to bring its innovations to the Japanese market.

Two startups have been selected for the latest edition of EIT Food Seedbed Incubator, a 4-6 month programme that aims to transform science and technology-based innovations into market-validated businesses. The program gives startups access to the world’s largest food innovation network, solving the agri & food system’s biggest challenges, with 160+ industry, academic and leading corporate partners in 26+ European countries, and 200+ experts and mentors. Each selected startup will receive 7,000 € in equity-free funding, and up to 10,000 € additional equity-free funding for all teams eligible for Seedbed+. In November, each team will be presenting the outcome of all their networking at the Seedbed Showcase.

The selected Swiss startups are Advection – founded by the research team at the ETH. The startup aims to provide food companies with a meat analogue technology platform to help decarbonise the meat industry. Protifib has developed and patented a technology that turns food waste into bioplastics, to build a circular economy and increase revenue streams for food manufacturers.
