The Swiss Finale of the ClimateLaunchpad competition culminated in awarding the three most outstanding early-stage cleantech startups. The winners qualified for the Global Grand Final.

Organised by Startup Academy, Climatelaunchpad Switzerland provides entrepreneurs with a platform to transform their ideas of how to combat the negative effects of climate change into companies. The program brings them together with like-minded people worldwide to exchange and broaden their network.

Last Friday, ten finalists presented their solutions to the jury that chose the top 3 promising ideas. The winners will join the Startup Academy Support Program for 18, 12 and 6 months, respectively to benefit from customized workshops, coaching, mentoring and networking. The teams will also proceed to the ClimateLaunchpad European and global finals.

The 1st place prize went to Mycrobez, with its fully compostable mycelial foam packaging materials for Packaging, Construction and Agriculture. Its product CompoPack aims to replace harmful petroleum-based applications. Currently, the startup is also developing the first fully automated production process for various mycelium composites. This is intended to provide the mass market with a viable alternative for environmentally harmful materials. Our automated production, which only needs waste and mushrooms as starting materials, enables the required output volume and price per litre to create a new sustainable status quo.

The 2nd place went to 2D Membranes by Mojtaba Rezaei, whose team focuses on developing graphene membranes for efficient carbon capture. Revozona by Gérard Peters scored 3rd place for their idea that aims to bring to the market clean ozone bleaching solutions for the textile industry.
