Since the launch of its SaaS product in 2021, the Vaud-based company Datapred has been developing its customer base throughout Europe. By integrating the GPT-4 into its solution, the startup led by Thomas Oriol wants to accelerate its growth. The ambitious goal: to become the HubSpot for energy buyers.

Datapred, the integrated online software for energy buyers, recently announced new reporting, market analysis and decision support capabilities based on OpenAI’s large language model. Increased energy market volatility and uncertainty has created significant challenges for industrial energy buyers — especially since most of them still rely on spreadsheets for reporting, market analysis and decision support.

With early access to GPT-4, Datapred has successfully transformed the analysis, forecasts, reports and simulations generated by its proprietary modeling engine — and based on tens of continuous data streams — into plain paragraphs that can be easily understood and shared. This represents a quantum productivity leap for energy buyers who, by using natural language prompts, can significantly reduce the amount of time spent analyzing and interpreting data, and make more informed decisions.

“This is a very exciting development for energy buyers” said Nicolas Mahler, co-founder of Datapred. “Starting from Datapred’s unique analyses, forecasts, reports and simulations, they will now leverage the power of GPT-4 to generate the corresponding narratives. and boost their buying and hedging decisions.”

Datapred will first apply these new capabilities to energy market analyses and forecasts, then to energy procurement reports (buying and hedging transactions, coverage ratios, profit and loss calculations), and finally to the software’s optimization features.

Growing in Europe

Since the launch of its SaaS product two years ago, Datapred has developed a customer base of European manufacturing companies as well as European energy brokers and consultants. Thomas Oriol, CEO and co-founder tells us more: "As expected, our SaaS product is reaching companies all over Europe. We now have customers in Switzerland and in all border countries (France, Italy, Germany and Austria)."

Speaking of the future, the CEO believes that Datapred has a chance to become for energy buyers what HubSpot is for inbound marketers: online, integrated, powerful but not overwhelming. Based at the EPFL Innovation Park, the startup continues to expand its customer base across Europe. It also intends to constantly bring its product closer to its vision and prepare its next round of financing.
