Swiss Venture Guide 2012 is out now

Today the fourth edition of the Swiss Venture Guide was published. In the Guide everyone interested in the Swiss high tech ecosystem will find interesting Cover Stories, profiles of support organisations for Swiss start-ups, 15 start-up companies on the way to success, investor profiles of the members of CTI Invest, an overview regarding Business plan competitions and helpful links. The guide is a joint effort of CTI and CTI Invest.

The Swiss Venture Guide’s intention remains to give, future and actual entrepreneurs, investors, students, politicians and the general public a better understanding of the innovation strength in Switzerland. It offers extensive information about the Swiss start-up scene. Publishers are CTI Invest and CTI.

The Guide starts with “Cover Stories”. The first is by Walter Steinlin, President of CTI. It is about the challenging situation in early stage financing in Switzerland. Steinlin reports that CTI has already set up an “Early Stage Financial Taskforce” to gather facts and evaluate measures to facilitate the removal of this start-up bottleneck in Switzerland. The following articles feature several and very different start-up initiatives. There are articles about the 25th anniversary of the W. A. de Vigier Foundation and its award, about the CEO Day 2011, initiatives by Zürcher Kantonalbank and IBM, but also two pages on which the ten winners on >>venture>> 2012 are presented with short descriptions. In addition there are two texts about new projects: the Angel Days and the BlueLion Incubator.

The second section presents 15 start-ups on the way to success. The business model, the technology, the financing strategy and the way to the market of every company is explained. The companies are: Abionic, Bcomp, BioVersys, Climeworks, compliant concept, Dacuda, FemtoTools, Gbanga, Jobzippers, nanotion, ProteoMediX, QGel, QualySense, senseFly and Virometix.

The third section gives an overview on several venture support initiative everywhere in Switzerland. The fourth section presents portraits of domestic and international venture capital investors and business angel networks. All of them are members of CTI Invest, the leading Swiss financing platform, which regularly organizes match-making but also networking events for Swiss high-tech companies and the investor members. Today, CTI Invest has approx. 80 members, most of them are profiled, with the exception of some industrial partners and individual investors (business angels) not portrayed for privacy reasons.
