Startups selected for Venture DAY Lugano

Venture DAY Lugano brings together investors, business angels and corporate representatives with early and later stage start-ups focusing on deep tech. The following startups have been selected to pitch at the event.

Hive Power – is accompanying energy utilities through the digitalisation and decentralisation processes, using state of the art machine learning and blockchain technologies

LiVET – offers a rapid and reliable on-site diagnosis of infectious diseases in animals. Its products allow for adequate and immediate treatment, reducing uncertainty and stress for the patient and its owner as well as reducing the unspecific use of antibiotics.

i-Win – developed and patented an innovative window solution to integrate flexible thin-film photovoltaic cells into Venetian blinds that are enclosed inside an insulating window. The solution protects buildings from overheating in summer and solar radiation, and at the same time, it produces renewable electricity. The start-up is the winner of last year's Boldbrain Startup Challenge.

I'm back – designed I'm Back PRO, a digital back that can be mounted on any analogue camera, enabling photographers to shoot digital photos without giving up the analogue mode. The device is addressing amateur photographers who like high-quality mechanical devices and want to take pictures in a retro style.

TicInsect – Converts food waste streams from local food processors into usable and sustainable animal feed ingredients through insect farming. Currently, the company has a portfolio of four products.

Talent4GIG – is a platform to help companies make better hiring decisions by assessing developers with developers. The platform provides custom made technical assessments to guarantee that its culients meet the right talent. The goal is to reduce the time managers are involved in the recruiting process from fifty hours down to three.

LocalPoint, LocalPoint Fusion helps local and regional newspapers to create new digital revenue streams through a system that automatically "reads" and re-processes local print advertisements. Using principles of machine learning, LocalPoint Fusion recognizes advertising from the printed page, enriches such ads with automatically extracted data (eg dates, URLs, email addresses, phone numbers, map locations), and then re-publishes them on various digital channels. 

Qikle – the early-stage company of 4 members is developing a sustainable mobile payment solution to facilitate digital payments and receipts.
