An expert jury selected ten Swiss cleantech startups to participate in the Venture Leaders Cleantech program. The startups will head to Munich for a business development and investor roadshow to accelerate their ventures’ growth and expand their international presence.

In light of the energy crisis and the looming consequences of climate change, mitigating the environmental impacts of industry and consumer economies is critical. Reducing energy consumption, creating more sustainable resource pipelines, and restoring harmed biospheres are vital to this endeavour—as is supporting and investing in innovation that makes such changes feasible.

The Venture Leaders Cleantech program supports startups working towards creating a sustainable future. An expert jury evaluated almost 90 applications for the program’s new edition, selecting the ten most promising Swiss cleantech startups to join the Swiss National Startup Team 2023. The entrepreneurs will take part in a business development and investor roadshow in Munich, which offers valuable opportunities to showcase their solutions and connect with industry experts and investors, allowing them to take the next step in their startups’ international growth.

Meet the Venture Leaders Cleantech 2023

Biosimo Chemicals | Zurich– is revolutionising the chemical industry with sustainable bio-based chemicals, providing a direct substitution and greener alternative to fossil-based counterparts. Biosimo’s innovative solutions reduce carbon emissions and promote the circular economy, leading towards a more sustainable future.

Correntics | Zurich – provides predictive climate risk insights through a Software-as-a-Service solution. Their software helps companies to foresee and avoid supply-chain disruptions in the face of climate change and emerging sustainability risks.

Dimpora | Zurich – develops the world’s first non-toxic, waterproof breathable, PFAS-free, and fully porous membranes suitable for various industries, including sports and outdoor textiles, redefining industry standards.

Impossible Materials | Marly – provides plant-based materials to businesses to enable them safe and sustainable products. The first product, a cellulose white pigment, can replace titanium dioxide, reducing the environmental and health issues of heavy-metal based colourants.

Neology | Lutry  – is developing an Ammonia to Hydrogen Generation System (AHGS), which converts liquid ammonia into pure hydrogen, as a holistic carbon-free energy solution for commercial transportation. The innovative chemical process, fluid dynamics design, and energy-management system allow efficient and compact production of hydrogen, building on the existing infrastructure of ammonia.

Qaptis | Lausanne - retrofits existing heavy-duty vehicles (trucks, ships) with a CO2 capture kit that captures up to 90% of CO2 emissions. It is a low-cost patented device, fast to install and deploy.

RTDT Laboratories | Zurich - combines real-time digital twins of wind turbines with sophisticated proprietary analytical models to provide actionable insights through its SaaS platform. The software is complemented by a wireless, self-sufficient, best-in-class sensor module for direct data capture on wind turbine blades.

Voltiris | Lausanne – develops the first photovoltaic modules for high-tech greenhouses. This innovation allows for double-land use, generating electricity without reducing crop productivity. For growers, this translates into improved energy independence, increased profitability, and reduced carbon footprint.

VunaNexus| Zurich – uses patented technology to transform human and livestock urine into a hygienically safe, free of all pollutants, certified and marketable fertiliser called Aurin. The technology has a substantial environmental impact in reducing eutrophication, ammonia & N2O emissions.

WattAnyWhere | Sion – designs a high power, pollutant free and CO2 neutral generator that converts renewable ethanol into clean electricity for EVs, boosting e-mobility and energy autonomy: the generator provides a clean alternative to the grid, bringing high power to your site within hours instead of years.
