Winterthur Instruments is presenting their new product line for noncontact and nondestructive testing of coatings at the Swiss Innovation Booth at the Innovation Japan 2011. The Swiss Innovation Booth is organized by the Swiss Embassy in Japan with support from the Innovation Promotion Agency CTI.

The products of Winterthur Instruments are based on the award-winning and world-wide patented technology developed in cooperation with the ZHAW Zurich University of Applied Sciences. The "CoatMaster ONE" is for industrial and laboratory measurement of coating parameters such as thickness and material properties. It is an indispensible tool for the coating industry to increase production efficiency and quality as well as for material research laboratories to accelerate research cycles.  The "Tracer" is an imaging system to visualize coating delamination and thickness, shunts in solar cells  as well as invisible subsurface defects in metals and composite materials.

The measurement solutions of Winterthur Instruments are of high interest to the Japanese market, with its strong focus on quality controlled manufacturing. We expect valuable business and research contacts from the exhibition as well as from the meetings organized with key people from industry and academia.' says Andor Bariska, co-founder and CEO of Winterthur Instruments. To this adds Dr. Nils A. Reinke, co-founder and CTO: 'We are looking forward to solving the challenges of coating process and quality control for the Japanese car industry!'

The Swiss Innovation Booth at Innovation Japan 2011 is organized by the Swiss Embassy in Japan with support from the Innovation Promotion Agency CTI, who has invited innovative Swiss startup companies to the exhibition. Apart from Winterthur Instruments Qualysense will be present at the show. Among the participants at the booth are research organizations, universities and transfer offices.

It is the third time that Swiss innovators can present themselves in a special booth at the Innovation Japan and have the chance to meet Japan’s most sophisticated universities, research institutions, offices of technology transfer and potential business partners. In 2010 Optotune and Sonic Emotion were presenting in Tokyo. This 2nd Swiss Innovation Booth was a success in attracting much interest around Switzerland’s top notch innovation. In three days, over 150 contacts were made with visitors expressing interest in Swiss innovation and technology. Those included specialists from Casio, Fujitsu, Hiroshima University, JAIST, JST, Konica Minolta, Kyoto University, Merck, METI, MEXT, Mitsubishi, Mizuho, Nagoya Institute of Technology, NIDEK, Nomura, Oji Paper, P&G, Ritsumeikan University, Seiko Epson, Showa Denko, The University of Tokyo, Tohoku University, Tokyo Institute of Technology, and Toppan.
