Three companies awarded with the CTI Start-up label

The products of the three start-ups are very different, however all products offer tangible benefits: they increase the efficiency and profitability of shared mobility systems, allow elderly people to stay longer at home and reduce healthcare expenditures.

ElectricFeel Mobility Systems GmbH,  Zürich
ElectricFeel presents the first intelligent solution for the deployment of shared mobility systems such as bike sharing, e-bikes and e-scooter sharing systems. Artificially intelligent software understands exactly how clean mobility systems are operating and allows managing, predicting and analysing sharing systems. With the help of the software it is possible to boost their efficiency and increase profitability.

A recent benchmarking analysis of their software at work in Mainz, Germany, revealed a remarkable 68% increase in efficiency due to a better rebalancing of the system. The greatest challenge of sharing systems is ensuring vehicle and parking availability. The only solution to satisfying this demand is to deliver vehicles from where they aren’t being used, to where they’ll be needed. This is called ‘ Rebalancing’, and it is the largest challenge in shared mobility. 

DomoSafety SA, Ecublens
DomoSafety offers a smart home care service. DomoCare stands out for its unique preventive approach compared to standard emergency alarms of competing systems which are limited to ‘react’ to emergency situations. The core innovation of DomoSafety lies in the algorithm which allows to analyze the behavior of elderly people by using sensors installed in strategic places in their home. The system identifies potential risks possibly linked to a modification in their usual patterns of behavior and consequently activates an alarm (either anticipatory or “emergency”) directed to the appropriate person (relative, hospital, …).

DistalMotion SA, Ecublens
DistalMotion combines the advantages of endoscopy and surgical robotics. The med-tech start-up is developing a high precision platform for minimally invasive surgical procedures. The surgeon uses user-friendly controls to operate surgical instruments positioned inside the patient via a metal arm.

DistalMotion is a spin-off from the Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL). The company is financially backed by a syndicate of corporate and private investors led by Zühlke Ventures. CEO of the Distalmotion is Michael Friedrich who sold his company Aïmago to Novadaq in April 2014.
