With 14 startups in its portfolio, founder-led venture capital firm session.vc has raised additional capital in the first closing of Fund II. The largest portion of the funds stems from the session.vc core team. The team will continue to invest in software and tech startups, providing them with both funds of up to CHF 10 million and entrepreneurial expertise.

Founded in 2019, session.vc is an investment firm founded by three entrepreneurs - Martin Altofer, Philippe Bubb, Jeremias Meier - whose goal is to invest in high-potential businesses primarily in Switzerland, taking on the role of a lead investor to build tech-enabled growth companies. The fund focuses on growing companies with a proven business model and recurring revenues. Since its establishment, 14 companies have been funded - this includes active investments in Cerrion, deskbird, Dufour Aerospace, Jua and more, and exited companies, including Airica, On, bexio and Nutmeg.

With Fund II, session.vc continues to pursue its mission of supporting founders with investment and entrepreneurial support. The details remain undisclosed; however, the largest portion of the funds stems from the session.vc core team, with participation from other founders and entrepreneurs. The fund will invest up to CHF 10 million per startup.

Working closely with the startups

Eligible to receive investment from Fund II are software and tech startups with a cash-efficient business model with the potential to generate high eight-figure revenues. The startups should be willing to work very closely with the investors. “We are not just investors, but co-entrepreneurs who help to build a company. Of course, this also requires a personal fit”, says Jeremias Meier, Partner at session.vc.

Commenting on the number of companies that session.vc aims to invest in, Jeremias said: “We have not set ourselves a target in terms of number of investments. The decisive factor is the quality of the investments and the fit with our new strategy. As we do not have a management fee on committed capital, but only on invested capital, we are under no pressure to invest quickly”.

According to the company startups seeking the support of session.vc “are looking for an experienced partner, with a track record of successfully scaling business operations and delivering exits - a value proposition which few can offer and where we believe we can make a real difference”.
