The use of artificial intelligence (AI) has continued to drive innovation in a range of industries from marketing, robotics, law, among others. Several AI-based technologies by Swiss startups have not only transformed their fields but they also continue to standout in award competitions. This article showcases six award winning solutions.

Every month, Google Cloud Start-up awards a startup pioneering the use of current technology. This month, it is Matto Group, the Zug-based startup specializing in data-driven marketing. The Matto Group uses Google's machine learning to make extremely accurate and fast wage forecasts on the lohncheck.ch platform. The platform merged with the Matto Group in 2022. It promotes wage transparency and combats gender discrimination with personalized salary forecasts. In autumn 2022, the company received the SEF.Growth High Potential Label.

Sevensense | Swiss Logistics Award
With "Alphasense Autonomy" Sevensense Robotics gives mobile robots intralogistics eyes and intelligence, and thanks to artificial intelligence and 3D vision, the robots orient themselves in their environment autonomously. This innovation impressed the jury at the 28th Swiss Logistics Award, an important accolade for players in the supply chain management and logistics sector.

WattAnyWhere | "Most Promising Startup"
The FIT - Fondation pour l'Innovation Technologique and KPMG Switzerland chose WattAnyWhere as the “Most Promising Startup” after their Pitch session held at the KPMG Swiss office in Lausanne. The startup offers a mobile generator that uses solid oxide fuel cells (SOFC) to convert pure renewable ethanol into high-power electricity by chemical reaction. It is ultra-silent, produces zero nitrogen oxide, and can be fully functional in any location in just a month. Roughly the size of a parking space, the generator allows ultra-fast charging of three thousand EVs with just 30m3 of ethanol.

Enhance-d | TDI

The first T1D Moonshot Fellowship awarded 11 comanies that are working to speed up progress on the prevention, management, and cure of Type 1 diabetes. Enhance-d is one of them. The startup is developing a digital hub for diabetes self-management. With a shared background at Supersapiens, a biowearable technology company offering real-time glucose insights, the co-founders Federico Fontana, Felipe Maturana and Fabio Saviozzi joined forces with Sam Scott to launch enhance-d in 2022.

Neur.on | Weblaw pitch competition
Legaltech startup Neuro.on is one of the three winners of the startup pitch competition held at the 9th Weblaw forum. The Freibourg startup dedicated to addressing the challenges facing legal, tax, and banking professionals won the first prize. The company offers a SaaS end-to-end solution that helps lawyers, law and finance experts take control of the translation process while guaranteeing the required level of quality and confidentiality. So far, the startup’s solution has translated almost 44 million words.

Pelt8 | MOI2023 Insury awards
During the International Insurance Innovation Day “#MOI - The Magic of Innovation Day" in Vienna, the audience voted for the most outstanding solutions from companies worldwide as part of the Insury Award. Zurich-based startup Pelt8 won the first prize. offers companies a central overview of the emissions in their supply chain. The climate tech startup helps companies set up efficient and verifiable processes to collect ESG data that are necessary to meet the growing demands for transparency due to new regulations and reporting requirements.
