KaiosID has obtained a Tech Seed loan of CHF 100’000 from the Foundation for Technological Innovation (FIT). Originating from the School of Management and Engineering Vaud (HEIG-VD), the start-up develops a traceability solution for consumer goods to fight counterfeiting and illicit trade.

KaiosID aims to improve the efficiency and the ease of product traceability. The start-up adds invisible and unique hidden random patterns on the product’s packaging, which act as the product’s fingerprint and can be automatically verified with a smartphone. These patterns allow brands to fight counterfeiting and illicit trade, while simultaneously building consumer trust and awareness. Unlike competitors active in this billion-dollar industry, KaiosID’s solution has no impact on the design and production of the packaging: its integration into production lines is seamless and can maintain the productivity, while making it possible to easily identify the products by scanning them with any smartphone. The start-up targets premium consumer goods industries, and in particular fragrance and cosmetics.

Founded in 2019 by Johan Wüthrich and Raphaël Hunziker, KaiosID relies on a team of 4 members and also obtained the support of the Vaud Office for Economic Affairs and Innovation (SPEI), InnoSuisse and MassChallenge. The start-up is currently conducting a seed round in progress.

“The FIT loan will enable us to reinforce our team in the technical and commercial development by hiring two new full-time employees”, explains Raphaël Hunziker, COO and co-founder of KaiosID. In addition, the start-up aims to deploy their solution with their first customers and grow their network of partners.
