Startups and support organisations strengthen their board teams

Seasoned leaders, including the former CEO of Maxwell Technologies, have taken on new roles as members of the board of directs of swiss startups such as Systemcredit, Supertrends and Battrion. The Park Innovaare, the LifeTech Competence Center and Microcity also have new leaders.

Systemcredit – Anouk Marazzi, Board member
The fintech startup helps SMEs realise their projects through healthy financing. SMEs seeking credit experience simple, efficient and independent access to the most attractive credit offers on the market on the digital credit platform for SMEs. The startup welcomed Anouk Marazzi to its BOD to support the company on topics related to “family businesses”. Marazzi is a trained lawyer. For many years, she was the manager if the Swiss Olympia “Marazzi Sailing Team”, which represented Switzerland four times at the Olympic Games and won several national, European and world championship titles. After further training in the real estate sector, she now runs her own real estate company “Anouk Marazzi Immobilien”. She also holds various management mandates and a foundation mandate.

Supertrends – Alfred W. Moeckli, Chairman of the board
Superspreads uses crowdsourcing, machine learning and expert knowledge to track influential scientific and technological trends reshaping the world. To drive the System through its next journey, the startup has appointed Alfred W. Moeckli as chairman of the board of directors. Alfred brings more than 20 years of international experience as a CEO, COO or a member of Boards of Directors of various banks and publicly listed companies. Most prominently, he served as Group CEO of VP Bank Ltd. between 2013 and 2019, during which time he doubled the average yearly profit and share price of VP Bank. He also co-founded publicly-listed Swissquote Group and subsequently built up Swissquote Bank as CEO. His profound knowledge of the financial industry and comprehensive first-hand experience in navigating operational and strategic leadership challenges will be vital in propelling Systemcredits’ rapid growth and expansion success. The company recently opened a Danish office, launched four new services, and revealed new strategic partnerships as they look to establish their presence internationally.

Battrionex Maxwell CEO Franz Fink now BOD member
Franz Fink, the former CEO of Maxwell Technologies, now part of Tesla, is the new m member of the board of Battrion, an ETH spin-off developing Aligned Graphite, a fabrication technology for lithium-ion batteries which improves the microstructure of negative electrodes. Fink started his career at Motorola Semiconductors, working subsequently as General Manager, CEO and Board Director at various companies in the semiconductor and energy storage industry before taking on the role as CEO of Maxwell Technologies. At Maxwell, he led the business turnaround, focusing on investments in the breakthrough Dry Battery Electrode technology that led to their acquisition by Teslain 2019.

Switzerland Innovation Park Innovaare – Christian Broennimann (Dectris) new Chairman
Thanks to its state-of-the-art large research facilities, Switzerland Innovation Park Innovaare offers a platform for technology-driven companies to achieve their next breakthrough. The organisation has welcomed Christian Broennimann as the Chairman of its Board of Directors. Broennimann is the founder and CEO of DECTRIS Ltd., a spin-off company of the Paul Scherrer Institut PSI, and the global leader in the development and production of HPC X-ray detectors for science and industry. Based in Baden-Dättwil, Dectris today employs about 150 people and more than 2000 Dectris X-ray cameras are in use at research institutes worldwide. The most important application of the cameras is the determination of protein structures by X-ray crystallography for pharmaceutical research. Today, more than 50% of all new protein structures worldwide are determined using data from the cameras in Baden.

LifestyleTech Competence CenterJelena Tasic Pizzolato, General Director
The Members of the General Assembly and the Committee Members of the LifestyleTech Competence Center, appointed Jelena Tasic Pizzolato the role of the General Director of the Association. Jelena comes from 15+ years of international business experience in several European markets, including the UK, Italy, and Switzerland. Her sectors of expertise are digital & e-commerce, fashion, retail, ICT, and finance. In her previous roles, she worked for Yoox Net-a-Porter (YNAP), UniCredit Group, and a London-based marketing agency, where she directly managed a range of clients. These include Visa International, Google, Discovery Channel, Vienna Stock Exchange, Samsung, Nokia, MasterCard, Mars, Holcim, Henkel, The Economist Conferences, and Arcelor Mittal.
The LTCC supports companies to perform R&D projects, find academic partners and access public funding or fiscal benefits. It also connects creativity, consumer trends, technologies and entrepreneurs driving the transformation of the Lifestyle Industry.

Microcity – Jean-Marc Brunner, Director
Microcity SA, which was created to stimulate, accelerate and promote technological innovation in the canton of Neuchâtel, has welcomed a new director. The Board of Directors chose Jean-Marc Brunner, former Head of Technology Transfer and Industrial Relations at the University of Fribourg and Director of SICHH. With an extensive network and already very well integrated into Neuchatel’s economic and research circles, he was able to convince by the quality of his technical and behavioural competencies to continue the development of Microcity.
