Startupfair 2015, the national convention for the Swiss innovation industry, dedicates a large portion of its area to the special theme “Digital Lifestyle”. Ten selected showcases let Startupfair visitors experience digital solutions in medicine, learning, engineering, arts and for simulations.

The special theme of “Digital Lifestyle” at Startupfair 2015 serves to inform the public of the opportunities resulting from the digital revolution – especially for innovative Switzerland. Switzerland has a lot to offer towards the megatrend “Digital Lifestyle” and to take a leading role in the innovation competition.

The proof can be wittnessed and experienced by visitors on July 2. In addition to impressive applications in medicine or education, BIRDLY will be shown, currently probably the most spectacular virtual reality simulator (picture). This flight simulator lets its riders experience flying like a bird of prey: The combination of a 3-D head set, hydraulic action and even a wind generator make the experience of flying more realistic than ever before possible.

However other amazing showcases will offer a whole range of new experiences. The ten selected projects:

  • Virtual reality: BIRDLY by Somniac. Acclaimed as the currently best virtual reality experience. Developed at ZHdK, the Zurich University of the Arts. (www.somniacs.co)
  • 3-D photography with just a smartphone: Aquilaviz. A spin-off company of ETH Zurich. (www.aquilaviz.com)
  • Virtual reality for professional trainings: Ateo. (www.ateo.ch)
  • Digital planning of social time: CROWD by Gimalon. (www.crowd.im)

Another highlight of the startupfair will be the Startup battle. The ten finalists- some of them active in the digital lifestyle segment, too - have now been selected. The startups are: Digit Arena, Goodwall, happyBello.com, NewGreenTec, PB&B, pingen.com, ShoeSize.Me, Tracktics, WedMap Switzerland and Gimalon/CROWD.

Startupfair 2015 will take place on July 2 at Kaufleuten Zürich. Up 2’000 visitors are expected, making the convention the largest event for the startup industry in Switzerland. More information at www.startupfair.ch.
