Seven Earthshots accelerated from Geneva

Earthshots believes that Switzerland - and Europe in general – offers the perfect ecosystem for these types of companies as key ingredients intersect and boost synergies. Contacted by Startupticker.ch, Breakthrough Founding Partner Sal Matteis stresses the high-level corporate and academic R&D centers (EPFL / ETH / IDIAP, etc …), strong IP infrastructure, cantonal and investor support for deeptech companies, and the presence of UN ecosystem focusing on sustainable development.

Bringing together experts from Switzerland and Europe, the program attracted the first 7 Earthshots who just completed the first phase of the program culminating with a close-door Demoday with keynote speaker Ian Steward, co-founder of Wired Magazine and Executive in Residence at IMD. On this occasion, the progress of the startups was presented to a selected group of notable and angel investors.

The first seven Earthshots are:

• Twiice: A step towards autonomy & mobility, enabling paraplegics to walk again.
• Helvitek Labs: Next Gen urban masks protecting people against fine particles & airborne threats.
• Faceadapter: Empowering digital identities’ trust with the world’s first AI-powered biometric system.
• ZeNPulsar: The first European AI Solution dedicated to advancing online integrity.
• Aquascope: Fighting to mitigate a 2030 water crisis by simplifying data complexities for risk management & water stewardship.

Focus on go-to-market & growth stage

Earthshot fellowship is evergreen with up to 6 months of pre-incubation, 6 months of intense accelerator program and lifetime support through our the program founder collective and expert network. The Accelerator can count on mentors such as Joel Curado who headed up Digital Transformation Smart City for Cisco as well as Zürich-based serial entrepreneur Twan Vollebregt or London-based Josh Partridge who was COO / executive team who sold Shazam to Apple.

Pre-incubation started on a hybrid basis in March to kick-off the acceleration program of the startups in June. The on-site part of the program was run from Earthshot’s Breakthrough Hub in Geneva. Over the next weeks of fellowship the startups will meet local and European experts to enable them in their go-to-market and growth as well as continuing their fundraising.
