Oman government relies on Swiss Edtech platform

The Royal Court of Oman has selected the Swiss EdTech startup EDACY to implement a 5-week Digital Fluency online learning program developed with the EPFL. The goal was to upskill up to 10,000 of its employees.

Founded in 2019 in Sion, Edacy developed a collaborative digital learning platform designed to deliver impactful, organisation-wide learning experiences that effectively scale, meet transformation goals and are as effective as physical training. The startup partners with leading universities and global product companies to develop and offer certified short online courses to upskill the workforce for the 4th Industrial Revolution. To date, the startup has developed ten high-quality courses in collaboration with the EPFL and offers competency modules in a offers range of topics from growth-mindset, leadership, innovation, and service design, to web development, data analysis and security.

The platform stands out for its focus on social learning and collaboration where users can learn from each other and get support from “Digital Champions” throughout their learning journey, thanks to built-in communication technologies. Moreover, the platform is built to fit the day-to-day realities and cultural context of the Middle East and Africa through lightweight data and offline content delivery, as well as unique adaptive video streaming for low bandwidth.

First large project held in Oman
Thanks to its adaptability, the Diwan Royal Court of the Sultanate of Oman selected EDACY’s learning experience platform to implement a Digital Fluency upskilling program to upskill more than 10,000 public services Diwan employees. This achievement comes after the Diwan of Royal Court through the Institute of Capability Development partnered with EDACY to provide exclussive online learning experiences to its government employees to build the skills, level of knowledge and mindsets required for the future of work and the digital economy. Edacy’s courses provided participants with the skills and knowledge necessary to improve the delivery of public services in alignment with the Oman Vision 2040.

“Our goal was to have an impact on the Diwan of the Royal Court, by providing the skills and mindset necessary for digital transformation and laying the foundation for achieving our national vision for 2040. This program has proven to be very helpful in achieving this goal” explains Dr Ali Qassim Al-Lawati, Advisor for Studies and Research to the Diwan of Royal Court.

According to the company, this was the first large-scale upskilling project that EDACY has carried out since the establishment of the company. Before that, the startup had developed a series of apprenticeship training programs for matching job skills in Africa and producing skilled, employable talents that are automatically absorbed into the workplace, working with organisations, such as UNICEF, Expresso, BNP Paribas among others.
