Winners of the long-established award from the WA de Vigier foundation will receive 5 times CHF 100’000. The application deadline is at the end of September – ambitious start-ups should not miss this date.
Solothurn native William A. de Vigier always desired to assist young entrepreneurs in Switzerland by providing them with the same thing that helped him when he founded his company in 1935 and what good ideas usually lack: the necessary start-up capital. Since its founding in 1987, the W.A. de Vigier Foundation has followed the same goal: promoting active economic development by directly financing (à fonds perdu) young people with innovative business ideas who want to start up performance- and growth- oriented businesses in Switzerland.
Throughout its 25 years of existence, the Foundation has already awarded over seven million Swiss francs of start-up capital. The results of this sponsorship are evident today in the more than 75 successful start-ups and the many new jobs they have created.
Start-ups can apply now for the next award. The main criteria for an award-worthy project are innovative character, societal importance, technical and financial feasibility, and market potential. Apart from the prize money the five winners and five nominees will get access to the densely woven network of the foundation, which in addition to the active and previous trustees, also encompasses numerous experts, as well as the professors who act as ambassadors for the foundation at universities and other tertiary institutions in Switzerland.
