The BioValley Life Sciences Week is the annual networking platform for the Life Sciences Community. This year it’s being held from September 24 - 26, 2013 at the Congress Center Basel. Several sessions are very interesting for start-ups.

The Life Sciences Week unites experts working in or related to Life Sciences and links academia, industry, education as well as politics and the interested public at large. For start-ups two days of the week are of interest. The BioValley Strategy Day Morning Program on 25 September features presentations by representatives from facilitating institutions supporting start-up companies as well as real life case studies on how this support helped to get to a smooth start. Speakers include Sebastian Friess, State Secretariat for Education, Research and Innovation (Topic: national support initiatives), Lutz Noltze, CTI Start-up, Peter Burckhardt, Eva and Basel Inkubator, and Christoph Klöpper, i-net. They will be joined by two entrepreneurs: Francesco dell’Endice from Qualysense and Allesio Marchesi from Medical Insights.

The second interesting day is the “Connect Day” which will take place on Thursday. The day will start with a session called “Jumpstarting Innovation”. The session aims to bring an 'international view' of investment and Life Science trends, understand the needs and requirements from the investor’s and CEO’s perspective and to share experiences from local to international companies.

The afternoon session is organised by the BioValley Business Angels Club (BioBAC). The BioValley Connect Day Afternoon focuses on the challenges of life sciences start-ups. It commences with a keynote address by Jason Coloma, F. Hoffmann - La Roche AG, Head of Venture and Innovation, Roche Partnering. Thereafter three company representatives will give presentations.

The session will be rounded off by the Award Ceremony of the prestigious BioValley Life Sciences Prize, which will take place at the end of the first session, followed by a Panel Discussion of Experts.
