European Commission, through the “CleanSky” Joint Technology Initiative, contracted SELFRAG as partner for a research and technology development project.

Clean Sky is the most ambitious aeronautical research programme ever launched in Europe. Its mission is to develop breakthrough technologies to significantly increase the environmental performances of airplanes and air transport, resulting in less noisy and more fuel efficient aircraft, hence bringing a key contribution in achieving the Single European Sky environmental objectives. The Clean Sky JTI (Joint Technology Initiative) was born in 2008 and represents a unique Public-Private Partnership between the European Commission and the industry.

SELFRAG was contracted as a for a research and technology development project. Goal of the research is to apply the SELFRAG technology in order to liberate carbon fibers from the polymer. Finally a demonstrator shall separate CFRP from polymer to obtain re-usable carbon fibers with original properties, in a sustainable and economically viable way.

The Fraunhofer Institute IBP will accompany SELFRAG’s procedures, and the Swiss FHNW (Fachhochschule Nordwestschweiz) will provide samples and later asses the carbon fiber quality

SELFRAG AG is specialised in the development, engineering and marketing of high voltage pulse power products, plants and systems for selective fragmentation of various solids. SELFRAG AG was founded in 2007 and is based in Kerzers.
