First: its not too late to apply for next years W. A. de Vigier award. Application deadline is 30 September. This being said the last winners of this year have been announced only recently. They have won the Fan Prize, an additional prize draw on Facebook that the W. A. de Vigier Foundation has been organised for the first time.
For the first time, the W. A. de Vigier Foundation was running a prize draw – the Fan Prize - on Facebook. Facebook fans of the Foundation voted for their favourite from this year’s winners and nominees of the de Vigier Award. The winners were announced recently. They are Sanovation – a winner of this year’s competition – and Taboobreaker – a nominee.
It’s typical for winners and nominees of the de Vigier Award that both companies have made progress since the award ceremony in June. Sanovation has prepared a clinical study. Fifty patients and their doctors are going to test the tablet version of the pain diary developed by the young company from October. Taboobreaker, a start-up developing games and tools for children and teenagers with the aim of creating a lively and constructive discussion on tabooed topics such as Aids or suicide, is developing an app. In addition Taboobreaker is preparing a project in South Africa which will start next year right after the “summer” holidays in the country.
Preparations for 2013 is also an issue for the de Vigier Foundation itself. In October the selection process for the next de Vigier Award will start. For start-ups it’s not too late to apply: Deadline is 30 September. You can register online on the website of the W. A. de Vigier Foundation.
