Ruag Innovation Accelerator selects four startups

With the aim to increase Switzerland’s security, RUAG launched an Innovation Acceleration program to provide selected startups with a platform to advance their solutions and access to infrastructure, expertise and a network of academic and industry players. Swiss start-ups GlobalID, Beetron, Yotasys and Dynavisual are enrolled in the current batch.

RUAG, a technology partner of the Swiss armed forces promotes innovation by collaborating with start-ups. Following the pre-evaluation phase of the RUAG Innovation Accelerator program, the jury has selected four projects for the first phase of the program, which focuses on clarifying the technology and the business potential.

The new batch in the 3-month program will take place within the framework of the focus areas ‘VBS goes Green’, an initiative dedicated to CO2 reduction and digitisation of the armed forces which aims to develop digital tools and services to enhance the operational readiness and effectiveness of the systems deployed.

The startups selected by Ruag are:

Beetron | Aarau – Free-Piston Power Generator
Founded in 20121, Beetron is developing a revolutionary fuel-to-power generator that reaches 50% efficiency. This technology can uses both legacy fossil fuels and future fuel types like Hydrogen. It could significantly contribute to decrease Swiss dependency towards energy importation and help achieve C02 emission reduction goals.

Global ID | Lausanne – Private biometric authentication
The 2016 founded startup is developing novel approaches to biometric authentication using subcutaneous vein pattern of fingers. This technology could significantly contribute to increase the protection level of various systems against attackers while remaining simple and compact.

Yotasys | Biel/Bienne – AI-based sensors for mobile robotic applications" | 2022
Incorporated this year as a spin-off company from the established and experienced YOTAVIS AG, Yotasys specializes in state-of- the-art activities in cognitive communications and networking. Its cognitelligent sensors systems on mobile robotics applications will open novel possibilities to operate mobile robots within challenging environments.

Dynavisual | Zug – intelligent textiles for adaptive and interactive interactions
Since its establishment in 2019, Dynavisual has focused on developing an intelligent textile solution that integrates LED-based displays. Using such displays could help safety professionals to better communication in the field, thus increasing effectiveness and safety.
