Roxbourg Institute of Sustainable Entrepreneurship (RISE) has launched the first Professional MBA program geared towards promoting sustainable innovation. With an $84 million budget over the next years, RISE plans to scale up to running 500 classes in parallel per calendar year, with 20 students in each class. Registration is open today for the first batch starting in February 2021.

Roxbourg Institute of Sustainable Entrepreneurship (RISE) is being launched by GoodFestival, the world’s largest celebration of sustainable innovation, following two years of preparation. The initiative aims to create the largest Humanitarian Valley in Switzerland, covering 1.47 million square meters of space from Lausanne Railway Station to Ouchy Lake Front by working with owners of existing buildings. It will act as a platform through which entrepreneurs, impact investors, scientists and leaders of businesses, incubators, accelerators, NGOs, foundations and international organizations will collaborate to address the root causes of social, gender and environmental inequity.

The program has set an ambitious goal to educate 1 million students and empower them to obtain an MBA and launch their social ventures. Thanks to its broad network and strong collaboration with various entities that are providing infrastructure and support, RISE will invest $84M over the next ten years. Among its collaborations are the Olympic Museum, Sandoz Foundation Hotels and Tibits, Global Compact Network Switzerland and Liechtenstein, Google for Education in California, The International School of Geneva (Ecolint), MySwitzerland, among others. Roxbourg is also a member of the EdTech Collider.

The joint statement of the EdTech Collider Board reads: “We have recently added Roxbourg as a new member of the Swiss EdTech Collider as we appreciate their motivation and innovative approach to establish a new methodology and technology for practice-focused, continuous blended education based on the principles of social, gender and environmental equity that aims to have a sustainable impact on education.”

Three Pillars of the Humanitarian Valley
RISE is built on three pillars with the MBA program for Professionals at the core. The 8-months MBA program plans to run with 500 parallel classes each year, each hosting a class of up to 20 students. The program is open to all professionals in the fields of architecture, technology, medicine, law, sports, journalism, music, fashion, academia, business operations and strategy with ideas and solutions about building a better world. They will attend 120 Roxbourg Seminars organized in seven modules to learn how to create ventures or launch company-wide initiatives to solve underlying sustainability challenges. The standard fee for the MBA Professional program is $2,800.

The pillar Roxbourg Fellowship allows innovators who have already launched sustainable ventures or company-wide initiatives to complete the LEAP certification managed by RISE. Upon receiving the certificate, the fellows qualify as independent professionals to lead seminars for students who want to earn the Professional MBA. Under the pillar Roxbourg Ambassador, RISE aims to build an Advisory Board that will evaluate the quality of the applications for the Roxbourg Fellowship or the Roxbourg Grants.

RISE is now accepting applications from professionals around the world. The inauguration program runs from 3rd of February to 1st of October 2021.
