MODsense

Modum in collaboration with the Swiss Post and SAP have launched MODsense, a blockchain-based temperature-monitoring solution for quality-sensitive supply chains. MODsense enables outstanding ease-of -handling, immediate and secure access to data, and simple integration into existing operations.

More than 200 million shipments containing medicinal products are sent within Europe each year, of which 90% are in the “last stage,” sent from distributors to dispensers or users. While shipping, pharma companies are obliged to uphold stringent quality standards and comply with regulations. Barriers the in supply chain management could, however, hinder the acquisition of insights from their supply chain data.

In April this year, Modum entered a collaboration with the Swiss post to develop a temperature monitoring solution to address the supply chain challenges for pharma companies. The partnership involved the deep integration of modum’s temperature-logging devices within Swiss Post’s track-and-trace system. During the development of the solution, Modum entered a partnership with SAP allowing the startup to build its solution on SAP’s cloud platform and use SAP Blockchain services.

The completed solution of MODsense is now available in the market for commercialization. MODsense improves supply chain monitoring processes for high volumes of shipments. For distributors that have been seeking for a solution to ensure quality from end-to-end, to automate monitoring processes, to collect data promptly and securely while minimizing efforts and to demonstrate regulatory compliance, MODsense responds to these demands, thanks to the embedded intelligent technology.

“Applying MODsense to industry needs has resulted in an effective solution built on the robust platforms of our global partners. Working with SAP has allowed us to build MODsense on their cloud platform and use SAP Blockchain services. As one of the first blockchain applications available for supply chain logistics, MODsense will change the way goods in transit are monitored and help organizations to see how supply chain data can improve their operations”, said, Marc Degen, Co-founder, and Member of the Board, modum.io.
