Optimo Medical signs first commercial agreement

Optimo Medical AG is a medtech and IT-cloud company specialized in biomechanical analyses and simulation of the anterior eye. Its CE marked ‘Optimeyes’ technology creates an identical, digital copy of the patient`s cornea based on eye measurement data. With this “digital twin”, the software carries out a virtual keratotomy surgery to find the optimal and personalised incision parameters for each patient to correct astigmatism during a femtosecond laser cataract surgery. The company has also is also pioneering the field of virtual clinical trials for the anterior eye segment and a major player in patient-specific astigmatism management. 

Adding to its growing client base, the startup has entered into a sales collaboration agreement with Seattle-based MicroSurgical Technology (MST), a Halma Company focusing on simplifying complex cataract procedures and delivering innovative ophthalmic surgical solutions since 1976.  Halma is a global group of life-saving technology companies and an FTSE 100 company with over 6,300 employees in around 41 subsidiaries worldwide. 

Together with Optimo, MST aims develop a unique software application intended to support MST’s ophthalmic product development pipeline. The partnership allows both companies to combine their strengths to address the high volume market of low cylinder astigmatism treatment. 

David Scott, Chief Operating Officer of MST, stated, “We are continuously developing innovative eye-care products designed to streamline surgical processes and deliver optimized clinical results. Leveraging Optimo Medical’s core technology, we will be able to integrate robust surgical planning software into our device specifications for improved post-cataract outcomes.”
