After a successful crowdfunding campaign and two financing rounds, Velohub's smart lights for cyclists are already available in 70 shops all over Europe and will soon be launched in the US and Australia.

Two years ago, the Zurich based startup Velohub introduced Blinkers, a new set of lights for cyclists. Unlike conventional bicycle lights, Blinkers enable cyclists to indicate the direction they are turning to and when they are braking, using a remote controller. This functionality increases their visibility, hence allowing car drivers and pedestrians to clearly see them and understand their traffic communication.

The startup started shipping the first set of lights in 2017 and has since sold 2'000 units. The lights are available in more than 70 bike shops all over Europe. These will soon be available oversees in the United States and Australia.

Additionally, velohub has completed two financing rounds: one to finance the industrial design and another one to finance the first production.

The startup also collaborated with partners such as Zühlke Engineering and with Sapetti Design studios. “Zühlke supported us during the industrialization helping in the milestone review and with punctual technical support. We were also based at their office at Schlieren for 1 year. Sapetti Design studios is our partner since the beginning of the startup and we count with its support for any design related topic, not only product but also packaging, website, material, audiovisuals”, said Javier Fernandez de Alegria, Manager and Co-founder of Velohub.
