Swiss Fintech Awards go to Proxeus, Loanboox and Crypto Valley Association

The Swiss FinTech Awards Night took place on 15.03.2018 following an extensive selection process. More than 70 applications were received.

Loanboox was selected as best growth stage start-up. Loanboox is the independent money and capital market platform for public-sector borrowers and institutional investors and banks. Over 9 billion Swiss francs have been requested through Loanboox and over 800 borrowers and over 200 lenders are already active on Loanboox. In contrast to conventional brokering, financing and investing via Loanboox is simple, transparent, safe and low cost, benefiting both borrowers and lenders alike.

Comment by the jury: “The Loanboox team started in Switzerland and they have already begun their European expansion. Their growth is phenomenal and they are increasing the transparency and lowering the costs in a huge market. The capital market for public-sector borrowers and institutional investors and banks is ready for disruption and they are disrupting it.

Early stage start-up of the year is Proxeus. The start-up won CHF38’000. Proxeus is like Wordpress for the blockchain, enabling anyone to program smart contracts. The start-ups has developed a visual programming technology allowing anyone to develop smart contracts and create their own blockchain applications. Proxeus helps start-ups and traditional companies to move to a blockchain-based business model.

Comment by the jury: The start-up is awarded for its bold vision. The jury believes that it is about to revolutionize the way we interact with one of the fundamental technologies of our time. It has set out to become the wordpress for blockchain, making the power of the blockchain technology accessible to everyone. That’s why the jury wants to award Proxeus as “Early Stage Start-up of the Year”.

Influencer of the year is the Crypto Valley Association. Founded in January 2017, Crypto Valley Association is a not-for-profit association established to support the development and dissemination of cryptographic technologies, blockchain, and other distributed ledger technologies by supporting startups and other companies in Zug, Switzerland and internationally. Crypto Valley’s mission is to shape an open, free, and prosperous economy spanning multiple sectors.

Comment by the jury: The previous year has been the year of ICOs and of the Swiss Government announcing that Switzerland should become a Crypto Nation. Among numerous crypto influencers there has been one advocate who’s been pushing the Crypto Valley on the global stage. For that and other reasons the jury of the Swiss FinTech Awards wants to honour the work of the Crypto Valley Association with the “Influencer of the Year” award.
