Spooklight Studio is partnering with Magic Leap to invent the future of Mixed Reality, with a specific focus on next generation content. The multimedia startup based in Geneva just announced the news on Twitter. Startupticker.ch had the opportunity to get some insights from the company’s CEO, Florian Pariset.

After two years of secrecy, Geneva based Spooklight Studio has made the big reveal on Twitter. It is partnering with Magic Leap for the launch of its forthcoming eyeware device, the “One”. The American unicorn purchased Dacuda’s 3D Division last year and has already raised $2.3 billion from investors such as Google and Alibaba.

Spooklight Studio’s CEO, Florian Pariset is very excited about this partnership. His company in Geneva is dedicated to inventing the future of Mixed Reality (MR) content to make our reality magical. The company designs products for eyewear devices, such as the One headset from Magic Leap, and adapts them to current platforms in order to validate market-fit. This prospective approach has turned the geneva studio into a pionneer of its field.

As an example, Kouji, their latest product released on the AppStore alongside the Apple ARKit launch event last September, is an attempt to define what avatars are going to be once they they become indispensable to communicate on MR platforms. As Florian Pariset explains, without a front camera to film yourself, users on MR platforms will need an avatar to impersonate themselves to communicate with their friends.

For Spooklight’s CEO, Magic Leap is the only company trying today to bring Mixed Reality to everyone, that really understands why defining content adapted to this new paradigm is one of the main challenges. That’s why his studio has teamed up with them to support their vision. At this stage, Florian Pariset cannot give specifics regarding the kind of projects they are working on but recognizes that a significant part of his team is mobilized to have a product ready for the launch of the Magic Leap One device.
