Pickwings and Eventfrog have both obtained the “SEF.High-Potential SME” quality label attributing to their potential. While the logistics startup Pickwings has executed more than 100’00 orders from 400 registered transport companies, the event platform Entfrog has handled more than 2.3 million tickets from over 8000 events.

The SEF.High-Potential SME” quality label by the SEF4KMU is accorded to startups and young SMEs with high potential through their robust growth strategy. Early this year, the initiative reached the fiftieth label and continues to identify and recognize further high potential companies.

In the recent selection, the jury recognized and bestowed the label onto Pickwings and Eventfrog for the achievements they have made in less than three years since their establishment.

Pickwings was launched in February 2017 in Baar, Zug. The company is dedicated to reducing costs and improve resource consumption in transport management. On average, every fourth transport lorry in Switzerland runs empty especially on return to German-speaking Switzerland. Pickwings offers an online platform that connects shippers and transport companies in real-time. By eliminating paperwork and administration hurdles, the matchmaking process is faster, resulting in fewer empty runs (10%), which saves 400,000 tonnes of CO2 annually.

To-date, the platform already has 400 transport companies registered with a combined fleet of around 4,000 vehicles. So far, the company has executed more than 100,000 transport orders, saving more than 5,000 tonnes of CO2. Besides winning awards, the startup has attracted numerous Swiss SMEs and large consignors such as Brack.ch and Hornbach to use the digital solution to process their transport assignments.

Eventfrog, on the other hand, was founded in 2016 in Olten, Solothurn. Eventfrog offers a free ticketing system for the long tail of small, low-cost events and promoters of simpler events that wish to avoid the high fees charged by other portals. Unlike its competitors, Eventfrog’s focus is not on income from fees, but instead on collecting event data and monetizing the ecosystem surrounding this data. The aim is to offer segment-specific advertising products for advertisers, such as voucher spaces on tickets. Alongside this core business model, Eventfrog is aiming to become a one-stop shop for promoters and event-related services.

Since its launch, the platform has handled over 2.3 million tickets for more than 8,000 events. The company accords this success to its strong reliance on the “Word of Mouth” effect, i.e., recommendations from satisfied users as well as its solid technical platform and the many years of experience in web and software development. Eventfrog has won five awards, including the Master of Swiss Web 2017 and the international Disruptor of the Year Award 2018 from «TheTicketingBusiness».
