KeyCDN is a content delivery network with servers around the globe. The service operated by a start-up from Winterthur is in a growing phase. The team has just launched a new point of presence (POP) in Paris.

A Content Delivery Network (or Content Distribution Network) is a system of strategically positioned servers around the globe. These servers maintain and accelerate content. The main goals of a CDN are about speed, scalability and high-availability. A request from a user will always be routed to the nearest point of presence (POP). User’s distance to these servers has an impact on loading time. A closer and highly performing POP will significantly improve user experience as a result of reduced loading time, lower latency and minimized package loss. A Content Delivery Network will also cut the operational cost and makes it easy to scale seamlessly without extra effort.

KeyCDN is a service of the the company proinity LLC, headquartered in Winterthur. The team is operating a high-performance content delivery network (CDN).

The expansion of the CDN in France is an important move to achieve even lower latency and higher throughput. Ping latency in Paris has now dropped to 1 millisecond (measured by Site24x7). According to Cedexis, this new POP in France has lowered latency in France on average of about 20ms. The KeyCDN latency for end clients in France is now approx. 58ms (measured by Cedexis Country Report).

In a blogpost on its website KeyCDN reports that the company has already one more POP in the pipeline. It will be launched next week in the US. More announcements will follow this year.
