Swissbiolabs is the first Swiss association focussing on supporting newly created start-ups in the diagnostics field. Swissbiolabs runs an accelerator and organises events and an award. Applications for the award are open and the first Swiss Diagnostics Start-up Day will be held on 29 June.
The swissbiolabs association supports the set-up and development of start-ups based on scientific ideas in the diagnostics field. Main tasks include the sponsoring association are to establish and run the incubator swissbiolabs, to provide an accelerator program for young companies, to organise the swissbiolabs Award and to maintain and expand an expert network.
The association has now announced the first concrete activities: The swissbiolabs Award has been launched, the Swiss Diagnostics Start-up Day will take place on 29 June in Olten. On this day the accelerator program will be launched.
Swissbiolabs Challenge is a competition for start-ups and researchers in the fields of biotechnology and diagnostics. Selected startups will present their ideas at the Swiss Diagnostics Day. The winner will be awarded CHF 5’000 and entry to the Swissbiolabs Accelerator program in Olten. Deadline closes on 9. June 2017.
The Swissbiolabs Challenge awards the most outstanding startups and R&D organisations. Sought for applications are promising business ideas in the sector of Diagnostics, mature business cases and a minimum working prototype or early Stage Start-Ups (founded less than 2 years ago), and desire to scale and learn. Aspiring startups are invited to submit their business plan is per email to info@swissbiolabs.ch.
The jury will select the most outstanding business idea that will be bestowed with the Swissbiolabs Award 2017 and a cash prize of CHF 5000. The winner will also have the opportunity to join the Swissbiolabs accelerator program for one year.
The first diagnostics accelerator to be launched
During the Swiss Diagnostics Start-Up Day 2017, Swissbiolabs the first accelerator focusing on diagnostics in Switzerland will be inaugurated. The goal of the accelerator is to develop successful enterprises out of outstanding scientific ideas. The association supports its participants for one year through financing, business management expertise, searching for cooperation partners, mediating in scientific networks, participating in trade fairs and marketing activities, as well as structural work. The accelerator program is free of charge for the start-ups. No equity will be taken.
