Deadline approaching for Zurich Climate Prize

Zurich Insurance is looking for Switzerland's best climate projects. For the first time the Climate Prize includes a special award for start-ups. Deadline is 16 June.

The Zurich Climate Prize Switzerland & Liechtenstein requests proposals in three categories: The prize focuses on the areas of everyday life, where climate change and pollution are most prevalent. At the same time, these areas have great potential for saving resources. The three categories include the entire value-added chain from production to usage through to disposal.

The categories are:

Buildings & residential - Architecture/planning, materials, building technology, construction processes, operation/usage, closedloop recycling management, information/knowledge transfer

Production & consumption - Product design, (industrial) processes, energy supply, closed-loop recycling management, information/knowledge transfer

Transport & mobility - Vehicle design, logistics, goods transport, mobility services, mobility management, losed-loop recycling management, information/knowledge transfer

Special prize for start-ups
The prize sum amounts to a total of CHF 150,000. CHF 10’000 will go to the winner of the category start-up. However start-ups can also apply for the main prizes (1st prize: CHF 60’000) or the three other special prizes.

A jury of specialists as well as figures from business will decide who the winners are. One of the jury members is a young entrepreneur: Moritz Meenen, founder and CEO of ElectricFeel Mobility Systems. He is the Climate Prize expert for the mobility area.
