The Zug based data platform, Streamr is the first blockchain startup to win the Plug and Play Global Innovation Award from Startup AutoBahn. The startup was honored for its exceptional performance in their pilot project with the tech giant, Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE).

Streamr is a blockchain-backed data platform developing a single interface for real-time data delivery and payment platform. The Marketplace allows users to trade information over their P2P data network using the DATA token as a means of payment. Streamr’s high-performance analytics engine can aggregate, filter, and combine raw data with additional data to extract value.

Early May, Streamr joined forces with the Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE), one of the world's leading technology solutions and innovation companies to drive real-time data monetization through integrating HPE’s interfacing and Streamr’s Engine. HPE collected information in realtime from the communications “bus” in the car, where hundreds of data points arrived from sensors within the car. That data, from fuel consumption and location, to acceleration and gearing was then sent straight to the Streamr platform.

Commenting on the partnership, Henri Pihkala, CEO of Streamr said, “As one of the first demonstrations in the world where a car’s data will be monetized onto a publicly available platform not only makes this a truly important milestone on our journey, but a pivotal moment in the race to innovate. As we welcome the future of cities and towns, real-time data is required to drive smart cities forward.”

Following 100 days of working together with HPE, the startup has demonstrated excellent performance, winning itself the Plug and Play Global Innovation Award by Startup AutoBahn, the largest European Innovation Platform aiming to unite global startups with the tech expertise of Silicon Valley and the best of German engineering. This year Startup Autobahn showcased over 64 joint projects between 33 young tech companies and 11 industry leading corporations including the Hewlett Packard Enterprise, in the third batch.

Continuing to strive for further development of smart, data driven transport and smart cities through blockchain technology, Streamr is also joining MOBI, the Mobility Open Blockchain Initiative ecosystem alongside four of the world’s largest automakers; BMW, Ford, General Motors, and Renault. MOBI helps develop standards and brings together strands from the variety of pioneering technologies and disciplines to improve safety and efficiency across mobility and local and national infrastructures.

"Receiving this award, linked with our recent acceptance into MOBI will hopefully serve to amplify our far-reaching vision. The technology we’ve been pioneering with HPE allows us to create a customer first data ecosystem for millions of drivers so we’re very excited about joining a forum with automotive giants such as BMW, Porsche, and General Motors ", said  CEO, Henri Pihkala.
